Unithai Offshore boosted its fleet of offshore and tanker terminal support vessels by constructing two new terminal and offshore utility vessels at its own shipyard in Thailand.
It used a design from OSD-IMT to build multipurpose vessels Unithai Samui and Unithai Chumporn at Unithai Shipyard and Engineering in Leam Chabang, Thailand.
These vessels are used for a wide range of duties in oil terminals, including berthing and unberthing oil tankers ranging from 60,000 dwt to 280,000 dwt.
They are also capable of long-line towing and push-pull operations, supporting offshore tanker loading, fire-fighting and pollution control.
In addition, Unithai Samui and Unithai Chumporn were built for anchor handling, single-point mooring maintenance operations, subsea line handling and offshore field supply operations.
These 49.98-m vessels were built to an OSD-IMT 7001 design with 80 tonnes of bollard pull and entered service in Thailand in Q4 2018.
They are classed by Bureau Veritas and operate under the rules and regulations of Thailand Registry. They have a beam of 15.0 m, a height of 6.20 m, a moulded draught of 5.0 m and can accommodate a crew of 22.
Unithai Samui and Unithai Chumporn are equipped with twin Niigata ZP41 azimuth propulsion units, each coupled via a cardan shaft arrangement to a Niigata 8L28HX marine diesel engine, giving the vessels a free running speed of around 13 knots.
