Luxembourg-based Subsea 7 has secured engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contracts for subsea work in the Middle East and the UK North Sea from two different oil majors.
The latest is from oil giant Saudi Aramco, which has awarded two subsea contracts to Subsea 7 for conventional oil projects in shallow water offshore Saudi Arabia.
Under a long-term agreement with Saudi Aramco, the EPCI contracts were awarded to Subsea 7 in a consortium with L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering, a subsidiary of Mumbai-based engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro.
The two work scopes, which will be executed together, consist of EPCI of three oil production deck manifolds and subsea pipelines in Zuluf field and subsea pipelines in Berri field. The offshore execution is expected to begin in 2020.
“Our assets are well suited to deliver this type of work and this award builds on our track record of project execution in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” said Subsea 7 vice president Middle East David Lowther.
The award by Saudi Aramco follows on the heels of a subsea contract won by Subsea 7 to support Shell in its Arran gas field development in the UK North Sea, located approximately 240 km east of Aberdeen.
Subsea 7 is providing project management and EPCI of 60 km of mechanically lined pipe-in-pipe production flowline, together with subsea structures and tie-ins at the Arran and Columbus gas condensate fields and the Shearwater platform.
Subsea 7’s office in Aberdeen is providing project management and detailed engineering for the project, with offshore activities expected to begin in 2020.
