Maersk Supply Service’s Stingray-class subsea support vessel (SSV) Maersk Involver has been fixed for 161 days by Total Denmark to support maintenance of the Dan F platform, located offshore Esbjerg, Denmark, for walk-to-walk and accommodation services. The contract is expected to start at the beginning of April.
This is the second walk-to-work contract awarded by Total Denmark to Maersk Supply Service (MSS). The first was awarded in July 2018 for anchor handling tug supply vessel Maersk Tracker to provide multi-purpose field support for three years in the North Sea.
“The work performed by Maersk Tracker demonstrated we can respond to specific client requirements and consistently deliver safe and successful operations,” said MSS chief commercial officer Carsten Gram Haagensen. “This second contract gives us the opportunity to showcase the advanced capabilities of Maersk Involver in the Danish North Sea and continue our co-operation with Total Denmark as a reliable long-term partner.”
Based on a MT 6027 design from Marin Teknikk and delivered in November 2017 by the China’s Cosco Dalian shipyard, Maersk Involver is a flexible platform, with dynamic positioning class 3 station-keeping capabilities and 120 modern single cabins, making it well-suited for walk-to-work services. One of four Stingray-class SSVs built by MSS, Maersk Involver has an energy-efficient propulsion train, six large thrusters for a high level of manoeuvrability and a 400-tonne Huisman active heave compensated crane.
Complementing this capability are two work-class remotely operated vehicles capable of operating in up to 3,000 m of water, with the option of being deployed over the side or through an internal moonpool. The vessels have a free deck area of 1,850 m2 with a large number of sea-fastening features for project cargo.
The vessel has been outfitted with an Ampelmann E-type active motion-compensated gangway system and pedestal, along with a boat landing to perform personnel transfer via crew transfer vessels.
