In a regulatory filing, Norway-based maritime seismic services provider Magseis Fairfield announced that it signed a letter of award for a three month data acquisition program in the North Sea for an undisclosed client. Magseis Fairfield said the seismic survey vessel Artemis Athene would be used to conduct the survey, which would begin in Q3 2019.
92-m Artemis Athene is one of five vessels owned by Norway’s Maritim Management, a subsidiary of Westcon Geo.
This past December, Magseis Fairfield acquired the seismic technologies business of Fairfield Geotechnologies comprising data acquisition, nodal and system sale and rental activities, including all shares in Fairfield's wholly owned UK subsidiary WGP Group.
Magseis Fairfield offers ocean bottom seismic (OBS) acquisition services to clients worldwide using its proprietary marine autonomous seismic system (MASS). MASS consists of ultra-compact 4C sensor capsules, fully automated handling systems and data download. The lightweight nodes enable the company to carry an unlimited number of nodes and increase the size of the receiver spread deployed on the seabed. Magseis Fairfield said the automated handling systems significantly improve operational efficiencies by deploying and retrieving faster and superior logistics of equipment. This means that it can reduce the time required acquire OBS surveys and reduce the overall cost.
Magseis’ MASS node is rated up to 3,000m water depth, allowing uniform node technology across various water depths.
