Norwegian OSV operator Golden Energy Offshore has chosen Rolls-Royce to provide energy storage systems for two of its PSVs.
Orla and Frayja will be fitted with Rolls-Royce's SAVe Energy system and will also have their dynamic positioning, ACON control and main switchboard systems upgraded. The two vessels will also have a Rolls-Royce Energy Monitoring System fitted.
Built in 2014 at Hyundai Mipo Dockyards to an Ulstein UT 776 CD design, Orla measures 97 m in length by 20 m in breadth with a dwt of 5,098 and carries DNV GL's 'Clean Design' notation. Frayja is built to the same specifications, with a slightly increased dwt of 5,110.
Golden Energy Offshore’s goal is to achieve environmentally friendly and cost-effective operations, emphasising energy efficiency, sustainability and a low emissions profile in accordance with IMO’s standard for a Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan. The company's chief executive Per Ivar Fagervoll said "Our environmental journey has been a success and a retrofit to hybrid battery power is the logical next step for us."
